Mindfulness for the Skeptic

This session will cover:
What is mindfulness
Different types of mindfulness
Some roadblocks
Ways to get started

Data Collection for Behavior Supports
Michelle Tregembo, Developmental Disabilities Council, New Mexico State Ombud & Team

Using community building circles in the classroom can establish respect and inclusivity which will improve behavior and enhance instruction. A sample lesson plan will be shared.

A systematic approach for developing effective behavioral strategies for groups of students

ABA Basics and Functional Reinforcement
Meredith Medlicott & Lena Sage (Intervention & Support Resource Teachers) 
Introductory class on basic principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and how those principles can be applied in the classroom. We will also cover functional reinforcement in the classroom.

Regulation Strategies
Shantail Miller & Team

Creative Positive Behavior Intervention Supports Systems
School Climate 
The session will review PBIS best practices that promote social emotional learning and support Goal 4.  School Climate will cover how the department can help schools set up programs that promote positive behaviors that are important in self-regulation and self-awareness.
